After leaving Brooklyn and moving to Chicago in 2016, Franny Orphée happened upon the International Museum of Surgical Science and was fascinated by exhibits of anachronistic devices with odd and obscure designs. Using pen and ink, she created a series of mechanical arms based on displays of prosthetic limbs, creating fearsome and nightmarish images.
